¡hola y adios, vacaciones!

If you follow me on Instagram (@shickox), you’re aware that we’ve been traveling around mainland México for the past couple weeks. It has been an amazing vacation, and I would lie if I said I was fully ready to get back to reality but it was a much needed break.

Our itinerary was packed full of colonial towns, mesoamerican sites, delicious food and oodles of churches. I’ll be posting in more detail about each stop, but here is a preview of our route and stops.

House update

I am excited to announce that we are about a week or so away from electricity. With this long awaited development (if you remember it was supposed to be completed in May), we say goodbye to what amounted to fancy camping in our house and usher in the era of civilization! No more multi-week trips to the ice store and water logged food! No more need to start the generator to take a shower or flush the toilets! No more sweating in a hot office praying for a breeze!

We still have to petition CFE (our power company) for an account and get them to come out and install our meter, but our neighbor accomplished this in a few days, so we are very hopeful it is about a week out.

Progress has been made. Now we can focus on our phase two – pool, patio, fence and interior decoration. Woohoo!
