Only roughly 7 months after our expected date, we finally have municipal electricity! You can’t imagine what a game changer this is. Instead of dwelling on what we will no longer have to do (run to the ice store every few days, start the generator to take a shower, etc.), I’d like to illustrate this milestone through a list of the things municipal power has enabled.

– Run the fan all night without power running out
– Take a shower anytime
– Wash/rinse hands while cooking
– Make ice
– Use the refrigerator for storing fresh food
– Flush the toilets
– Run the A/C when it’s hot and humid
– Watch a movie with our projector (see image)
– Play music on real speakers (Mackies!)
– Use power tools
– Dry my hair with a blowdryer
– Make bread and pizza
